Student Presentation Honored by Science Society
WASHINGTON - Allison Katherine Hester was the recipient of the outstanding poster presentation award at the 2015 Society for Advancement of Chicanos/Hispanics and Native Americans in Science (SACNAS) National Conference at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center in National Harbor, Maryland, in October 2015.
Hester is a 2014 biology graduate and was assisted on the presentation by Dr. Kimberlei Richardson, professor in the Department of Pharmacology, Howard University College of Medicine. The research presented at the conference the culmination of two years of research focused on understanding neural control of motivated behaviors.
The conference was held Oct. 29-31. More than 3,400 students and science professionals of colora gathered for three days of cutting-edge science, mentoring, networking and professional development. Undergraduate and graduate students from across the country presented research on topics ranging from biofuels and alternative energies to water management and breast cancer, while STEM professionals conducted panels on professional development, mentoring and leadership.
