Howard University Cancer Center Offering Macy’s Charity Discount Passes

WASHINGTON (June 21, 2016) – For the first time, Howard University Cancer Center (HUCC) is participating in Macy’s annual Shop for a Cause, a weekend-long, nationwide charity shopping event benefiting local and national organizations.

Participating organizations sell special Macy’s shopping passes for $5 each, keeping 100% of the proceeds for their mission. The savings passes are valid at all Macy's stores Aug. 26 – Aug. 28, 2016. Shop For A Cause proceeds raised at the Howard University Cancer Center will go toward its Patient Assistance Fund which helps cancer patients overcome barriers to treatment, such as inadequate transportation.

“We are excited to partner with Macy’s “Shop For A Cause” program,” said Dr. Carla Williams, interim director of Howard University Cancer Center. “The funds we raise will help support the Cancer Center’s mission of conquering cancer. We are very grateful to Macy’s for this opportunity.”

The shopping pass offers:  25 percent off throughout the store on an assortment of regular, sale and clearance merchandise and 10 percent on electrics/electronics, watches, furniture, mattresses and rugs/floor coverings. At each Macy’s store, savings pass holders are also eligible to win a $500 gift card, no purchase necessary. The passes are not valid on macys.com.
