HUH Celebrates National Respiratory Care Week

WASHINGTON (Oct. 21, 2012) -- Howard University Hospital (HUH) Department of Medicine, Respirator Care, and the entire hospital staff are celebrating National Respiratory Care Week, a time for advancing respiratory education and information.

The week, celebrated annually by the American Association of Respiratory Care and featured by the National Health Observances Organization, focuses attention on the advancements made in the fight against diseases, such as asthma, bronchitis, emphysema and COPD.

This year’s theme is “Proud to be a Respiratory Therapist.”

At HUH, our respiratory therapists see 40 percent to 60 percent of all the patients at HUH. They are present at every emergency care procedure in the hospital.  They routinely care for the sickets patients, such as those with failing hearts or who are unable to breathe.

The hospital salutes our dedicated respiratory therapists for their highly-skilled and selfless work.
