Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology and Research
Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology is the clinical and didactic teaching of the nature, identification and management of diseases affecting the oral and maxillifacial region, and is based on the causes, processes and effects of these diseases.
The Objective of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology and Research is to produce dentists with sophisticated diagnostic skills, based on the ability to critically analyze data gained from a patient's medical history, clinical observations diagnostic acids. Furthermore, the objective is to produce dentists thar appreciate the patient as a complex organism through the ability to synthesize clinical findings with knowledge of human anatomy, physiology and pathology.
Research
The additional objective of the research section is to improve oral, dental and craniofacial health through research, research training and disseminstion of research findings with special focus on reecruiting underrepresented minority dental students into research as a career.
