Predoctoral Programs

The Howard University College of Dentistry offers predoctoral programs that offer numerous options for aspiring dentists or college students interested in dentistry as a profession.

To learn about the Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) program please visit the Office of Admissions and Recruitment.

Through special coordination with the Howard University School of Business and the Preprofessional Advisory Committee of the College of Arts and Sciences, students have the opportunity to engage in one of two combined education programs:

BS/DDS Program (CE)
The B.S./D.D.S. Combined Education Program is a special curriculum at Howard University spanning the pre-dental and dental curricula. The program allows students to complete the requirements for both B.S. and D.D.S. degrees in six years instead of the traditional eight years.

DDS/MBA Program (CE)
The College of Dentistry has entered into an agreement with the School of Business to award the MBA degree to students in the College of Dentistry. The DDS/MBA program takes effect at the beginning of the 2010 Academic year.

International and Community Based Education

International Dentist Program
This program affords a dentist who received a dental degree from outside the United States to matriculate in the third year of the pre-doctoral dental program, after calibration and competency assessment.

Summer Medical Dental Education Program
The Summer Externship Program at the Howard University College of Dentistry is a program to expose college students interested in pursuing careers in dentistry to the dental school curriculum.
