Associate/Assistant Professor

One tenure-track faculty position in Cardiovascular Physiology at the Assistant/Associate Professor level is available in the Department of Physiology & Biophysics, Howard University College of Medicine, Washington, D.C. – USA.  The candidate should have a solid background in cellular and molecular aspects of cardiomyopathies and heart failure. A minimum of 4-5 years of post-doctoral experience is required with a good publication record. Experience in translational research is desired. The candidate is expected to lead an independently funded research program. The ability to integrate with on-going departmental interests in the cardiovascular field would be a positive.  Start-up funds and initial salary compensation will be provided. Teaching within the College of Medicine’s curricula will be required as needed and in keeping with the candidate’s background. The position is to be filled during the Academic Year 2014-2015.

Associate/Assistant Professor

One tenure-track faculty position in Pulmonary or Pulmonary/renal Physiology at the Assistant/Associate Professor level is available in the Department of Physiology & Biophysics, Howard University College of Medicine, Washington, D.C. – USA. A minimum of 4-5 years of post-doctoral experience and a good publication record is required. Experience in translational research is desired. The candidate is expected to lead an independently funded research program that will integrate with on-going departmental interests in the renal/pulmonary field.  Start-up funds and initial salary compensation will be provided. Teaching within the College of Medicine’s curricula will be required as needed and in keeping with the candidate’s background.  The position is to be filled during the Academic Year 2014-2015.

Instructor

The Department of Physiology & Biophysics , Howard University College of Medicine, Washington, D.C. – USA. is seeking an Instructor level faculty member with a Ph.D. in physiology or a related field. Teaching responsibilities will include course coordinator activities as well as didactic lectures, laboratories, and small group active-learning sessions for undergraduate, graduate, dental and medical physiology courses. 

The successful candidate is expected to have at least two years of postdoctoral research experience (a focus on metabolic stress disorders including obesity, type 2 diabetes and metabolic syndrome is prefered).    The candidate who demonstrates the ability to develop an independent, extramurally funded research program would be considered for promotion to Assistant Professor within 2-3 years.  The position is to be filled during the Academic Year 2014-2015.

Instructor

The Department of Physiology & Biophysics , Howard University College of Medicine, Washington, D.C. – USA. is seeking an Instructor level faculty member with a Ph.D. in physiology or a related field. Teaching responsibilities will include course coordinator activities as well as didactic lectures, laboratories, and small group active-learning sessions for undergraduate, graduate, dental and medical physiology courses.  Research experience focused on metabolic stress disorders including obesity, type 2 diabetes and metabolic syndrome is desired.

The candidate will be expected to participate in the development of a metabolic syndrome research program within the department.   The candidate who demonstrates the ability to develop an independent, extramurally funded research program would be considered for promotion to Assistant Professor within 2-3 years.  The position is to be filled during the Academic Year 2014-2015.
