|The Department of Physiology & Biophysics, Howard University College of Medicine in Washington, DC is seeking to fill tenure-track faculty positions at the Assistant/Associate Professor level in the fields of Cardiovascular Physiology, Neurosciences/Biophysics and Endocrinology.
Respectively, the candidates should have a solid background in cellular and molecular aspects of cardiomyopathies and heart failure, cognitive neuroscience/membrane biophysics-patch clamp and reproductive/metabolic endocrinology. A minimum of 3-5 years of post-doctoral experience is required.
For the position in cardiovascular physiology, expertise in cellular signalling mechanisms mediating cardiac hypertrophy and/or heart failure through inotropic peptides matched with a good publication record is preferred.
In the neurosciences, a background in visual motion physiology/self-motion perception/oculomotor physiology and/or cell culture/slice preparation is desirable.
For the endocrinology position, focus on metabolic syndrome is preferred. Experience in translational research is desired.
The candidates are expected to lead independently funded research programs that will integrate with on-going departmental interests in the cardiovascular field, the neurosciences and endocrinology. Start-up funds and initial salary compensation will be provided. Teaching within the College of Medicine’s curricula will be required as needed and in keeping with the candidates’ backgrounds.
The positions are to be filled during the Academic Years 2012/ 2013.
