The Howard University College of Medicine is pleased to announce that applications are now being accepted for the
2014 MEDICAL STUDENT SUMMER RESEARCH PROGRAM (MSSRP)
Students will conduct biomedical/clinical research with a HUCM Researcher.

Program will run from May 27, 2014 to July 15, 2014. (7 weeks)*

Attached to this announcement are the MSSRP Application and the Listing of PI Participants (this document lists the available positions in each PIs project and the student's role during the seven weeks). When completing page 3 of the application, please select the top three positions/projects from a listing that will be provided .

*This is a full-time summer position. Though hours may vary according to the lab assigned, the participant is expected to work at least 35 hours per week. With the exception of Memorial Day and Independence Day, the participant is also expected to be present Monday through Friday for the duration of the seven week program.
+Students MUST be in good academic standing both at time of application submission and the close of the Spring 2014 semester. Participating students must pass all freshman medical school courses. Students in remediation may not participate in the program.
If selected as a finalist, the student will be required to interview in front of the selection committee. Students will then be notified of program status on or before April 2, 2013.
If accepted, it’s required that participants: (1) prepare a manuscript (paper) on your research findings that is formatted in accordance with a format that will be disseminated by the Office of the Associate Dean for Research; (2) participate in and present your data at a symposium at the beginning of the new academic school year in July, 2014 and also at the Howard University Annual Health Sciences Research Symposium; and (3) maintain good academic standing.
