From basic eye exams to the most advanced diagnostic tests and sophisticated surgery, the physicians and staff at the Department of Ophthalmology provide comprehensive eye care services at one convenient location.
In addition to the general ophthalmology services, subspecialty clinics in cornea/external diseases, glaucoma, low vision, pediatrics, retina and plastics are held on a weekly basis.
The eye clinic is equipped to handle a full range of diagnostic services including ultrasonography, digital fundus and slit lamp photography, digital fluorescein angiograph, electro-diagnostic testing (ERG, EOG, etc.), digital and automated perimetry. In addition, a modern minor surgery area, along with our comprehensive laser suite, allows us to provide convenient outpatient laser surgical services.
The Department of Ophthalmology has clinical affiliations with the National Naval Medical Center Veteran's Administration Hospital, and National Eye Institute Genetics Service.
The Department of Ophthalmology is involved in a wide spectrum of research activities, including glaucoma, ocular disease in sarcoidosis, diabetes, vitiligo and sickle cell disease.
